Polyacetal (POM)

Polyacetal (also referred to as polyoxymethylene, acetal or simply POM) has a highly crystalline structure that delivers an interesting property set that delivers high stiffness, hardness, strong chemical resistance, creep resistance, and low coefficients of friction. POM's property set and economical price point, make it ideally suited for many common plastic gears, slide components, springs, switches, dials, fuel system components, water handling components and a wide variety of other application spaces. The downside to the highly crystalline structure is a high shrink rate and a narrower processing window compared to other engineering semi-crystalline polymers.

ResMart offers a portfolio of varying melt flow Ultra POM copolymers, which are slightly easier to process than their POM homopolymer counterparts, while offering only a modest trade off in stiffness and tensile strength. Ultra ResMart POM grads are stocked in natural and black grades.
